The development of web design can be traced to the era when the internet first evolved. Previously, the introductory page which was uploaded on the web browser was nothing but a plain document comprising of black text. This web page was developed by Tim Burners Lee, who was the developer and founder of the internet. Thereafter, the websites which were developed were a combination of some complex designing patterns and codes. Later in the 1990s, websites began to be designed with the help of text effects and variant colours.

At that time, it mostly simple, and the pages seemed like ordinary brochures. With the development and boom in the world of internet and the scope of developing online business, totally changed the way the websites appealed and looked to a considerable extent. People were tapping the new online market and getting advantage from it. Through this designing, some visually enhanced sites were developed for attracting more visitors and increasing sales. Some websites had full of crammed information and colours on their pages.

They tried to keep intact the audience attention but failed later on, due to lack of efficient web design and attraction. Those websites contained overlapping colours, eye popping and big text effects, which drove away the attention from the original product or service. They used myriad colours with elaborate texts that crammed the entire website’s vital information. But the main development of this designing was witnessed during the period of internet recession. This was considered as a golden era for website designing.

During this period, people realised their previous mistakes and concentrated on developing and designing some good websites which allowed visitors get focussed on the offered product or any other service. So, web design had to be altered for developing an interactive, flexible and unique web based design. During that time, HTML, Flash and DHTML were the only options used for creating web layouts. Layout is very important for creating an attractive design.

For solving this problem, Cascading Style sheet or CSS was used for the first time, and several designers adopted them in order to avoid long codes. This was the latest and the most recently developed trend in the concept of designing. They needed no tables for drawing. Simple div tags were used for assigning styles to the objects or components of web pages. All these latest developments are the result of revolution in the designing concept.
